We celebrated Edmonton treasures 100 mile house and Jessica Heine as they each release vinyl albums on Fallen Tree Records:
100 mile house – Hiraeth
Struggling to start a family, Peter Stone and Denise MacKay, the married folk duo better known as 100 mile house, share their anguish & grief on their 4th album Hiraeth. Hiraeth, a Welsh word meaning a longing for something that may never have been, encapsulates the emotions the couple fought. Despite the pain, the couple’s love shines through the delicate songs. WCMA winner. CFMA Nominated.
Jessica Heine – Goodbye Party
Singer/songwriter Jessica Heine’s voice shakes rooms. Yet on her third album, Goodbye Party, her power is tampered by loss. With fragility, she opens up about her personal grief, threading gossamer cords between her painful divorce, unexpected death and regrowth born in the aftermath. Heine’s voice may not quake the room in Goodbye Party, but she harnesses powers that shake the soul much deeper.
Jon Brooks + Logan and Nathan
Fallen Tree Records’ opening roster also includes Toronto based singer/songwriter Jon Brooks and Vancouver based alt-folk duo Logan and Nathan. Although they did not perform at this event, their releases are an essential part of what makes Fallen Tree who we are. Their CDs are available to purchase online.
